About the event

Contemporary Management of Challenging Dentoalveolar Defects

The basic premise for long-term successful implant-supported rehabilitations is the presence of healthy and abundant peri-implant hard and soft tissues. The availability of sufficient hard and/or soft tissues is often limited, and in some instances, the nature of the dentoalveolar defect can be significant.

This full-day workshop will present a variety of surgical options available for reconstructing hard and soft tissues in challenging cases. The role of customised bone regeneration (e.g., Yxoss CBR®) will be discussed, as will the importance of selecting correct biomaterials to help maximise long-term regenerative potential.

Hands-on exercises will be performed on pig jaws to help put into practice many of the presented concepts, including flap designs, soft tissue release, primary tension-free wound closures, and suturing techniques. Surgical management of the medically compromised patient will also be presented.

Learning Objectives:

  • Assessing and classifying dentoalveolar defects
  • Selecting appropriate surgical techniques with predictable long-term outcomes
  • Understanding the role and process of customised bone regeneration in managing osseous defects
  • Understanding the properties and application of different osseous graft materials
  • How to improve the quantity and quality of soft tissues around implants
  • Modifying pre-, intra-, and post-surgical management of the medically compromised patient

Dr Markus Troeltzsch - Germany (MD/DMD) completed his  dental training and  received his DMD in 2005 from the University of  Erlangen (Nuremberg, Germany).
