About the event
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons often face the challenge of reconstructing complex dentoalveolar defects. There are several surgical techniques, each with its pros and cons. The ideal technique should be predictable, simple, effective, and minimize patient discomfort. Customized Bone Regeneration (CBR) is a technique that meets these criteria.
This half-day workshop will cover:
- CBR and case selection;
- Applying CBR - planning, flap design, and titanium mesh seating;
- Selection and use of biomaterials; and
- Preventing and managing complications.
Learning objectives:
- Classifying osseous dentoalveolar defects;
- Understanding the role of CBR in managing complex osseous defects;
- Understanding the differences in properties and applications of bone graft materials; and
- A review of medical and pharmacological considerations in regenerative surgery.
Hands-on exercises:
- Soft tissue considerations - flap designs, flap release, and soft tissue handling;
- Achieving tension free primary wound closures over augmented sites; and
- Loading (with mix of Geistlich Bio-Oss® and harvested bone), seating, and securing a CBR mesh (on a simulation model).
